Is Online Banking Secure?
Yes. Patriots Bank is committed to making Online Banking safe and secure, and to provide you peace of mind when you access your account information. To ensure the security of your information, Online Banking also uses 128-bit SSL encryption.
What is 128-Bit Encryption?
Encryption is a sophisticated scrambling method that is designed to prevent unauthorized eavesdropping on electronic data. Encryption works by taking a piece of information and processing it with a mathematical formula (called an "algorithm"), which converts the information into a meaningless string of letters and numbers. For example, the sentence "This is a secret," when encrypted, may look like "as03xxla79x!dqt." This encrypted string of information can be sent over the Internet, making it unlikely that anyone who intercepts the message will be able to comprehend it. When the string reaches its intended destination, a similar mathematical formula is applied to the string to decrypt it.
128-bit encryption refers to the size of the key used to encrypt the message. A longer key means the encryption is more "random," and someone attempting to decipher the message will have to try more combinations of keys. Each extra bit in a key doubles the complexity of the key.

What is Bill Pay? Bill Pay is a free feature of Online Banking that allows you
to pay your bills online. You can pay virtually anyone, anytime, anywhere in the
United States. Making payments online is the most efficient and economical feature
of Online Banking. It eliminates the time you spend writing checks and making
trips to the mailbox and post office. It even saves you the cost of postage.
Who can I pay with Bill Pay? You can pay almost any business or individual that you currently
pay by check or on the Internet. You can pay loan payments, insurance, credit
cards, even your dentist or daycare center. Please note that you may not pay court-ordered
payments, or state and federal taxes, online.
Is there a limit to the number of bills I can pay with Online Banking? There is no limit to the number of bills you can pay. The more
bills you pay, the more money you save on postage.
How are Online Banking payments delivered to payees? Payees are businesses or individuals to whom you make payments.
Payments you enter through Bill Pay are delivered two ways:
Most payments are delivered electronically. Payees who are paid this way receive payment information, including your account number, through secure electronic transmission.
All other payments are made by paper check, issued and mailed to the payee.
How long does it take for a payment to reach its
payee? We recommend scheduling your payment five business days before
its due date. Scheduling payments sufficiently in advance of their due dates
allows enough time for each payee to receive your payment and credit your account.
How do I start using Bill Pay? Please call a Personal Banking Representative at the Liberty
location at 816-792-1114 or the Platte County location at 816-878-6213.
